Datum architects
Credited on the homes we represent.
Datum is a fictitious brokerage built as a RampStack showcase demo. All credited architects and all listings are demo-fictitious; Datum does not exist as a real brokerage, the architects do not exist as real designers, and the homes do not exist outside this demo. No inquiries are sent and no viewings are scheduled.
E. Vasconcellos
Independent practice, 1949 to 1981
E. Vasconcellos ran an independent residential practice on the West Coast from the late 1940s through to the early 1980s. The practice was small (rarely more than three drafting tables open at a time) and built almost exclusively on hillsides; the work is associated with a sustained interest in cross-ventilation, modest material palettes, and the relationship between a house and its drainage.

K. Sato
Independent practice, 1958 to 1989
K. Sato worked from a small office through the 1960s and 1970s, with a brief partnership in the early 1980s before returning to independent practice. The work is identified with a long-running set of experiments in modular concrete-and-timber detailing for steep-site residential commissions.

M. Bencic
Bencic Studio, founded 2009
M. Bencic founded a small practice in 2009 after a decade in office. The studio's residential work has centred on courtyard typologies adapted to dense urban infill sites, with disciplined material palettes and a stated reluctance to publish more than the practice has actually built.

R. Vivero
Vivero Architects, founded 2015
R. Vivero founded the firm in 2015 to focus on residential commissions in temperate-climate cities. The practice's house projects are documented in a series of small monographs (self-published in small print runs) that emphasize the construction sequence as much as the finished result.

T. Linder
Linder & Partners, 1972 to 2018
T. Linder ran a small partnership focused on adaptive renovation of pre-war single-family homes. The practice's body of work is concentrated on the careful weighing of what to keep and what to remove in restoration; the resulting houses read as conversations between the original architect and Linder's later interventions.
